Service Description

Loss is part of the human experience, and learning to support people through it requires more than understanding death or grief alone. The End-of-Life & Grief Care Practitioner Certification is an immersive 20-week mentorship to prepare you to support individuals and families through end of life, death, grief, loss and major life transitions with compassion, skill and trauma-informed awareness. The certification brings together two complementary areas of professional study: Part I: End-of-Life Doula Care — 10 Weeks Learn to accompany individuals and families through the end-of-life journey with steadiness, dignity and integrity. We explore the emotional, practical, relational and spiritual dimensions of dying while developing the communication skills, boundaries and grounded presence needed to support others without taking over their experience. Part II: Trauma-Informed Grief Education — 10 Weeks Grief is not limited to death. We grieve whenever something meaningful is lost or profoundly changed. This portion explores the wider landscape of grief, including death and bereavement, divorce and separation, illness, caregiving, estrangement, identity changes, life transitions and other forms of loss. Through modern grief psychology, trauma-informed care, somatic awareness and spiritual understanding, you will learn how grief can affect us emotionally, physically, relationally and spiritually. You will develop the ability to recognize complex and traumatic grief experiences and support people without rushing, fixing or pathologizing their pain. Why Study Both? End-of-life work and grief work naturally intersect, but they also extend beyond one another. A dying person and their family may already be grieving long before death occurs, while a grief practitioner will encounter losses that have nothing to do with death at all. Understanding both gives you a broader and more complete foundation for supporting people through some of life's most profound experiences of change, loss and transition. This deeply experiential training is built around presence before intervention. You will learn, practice, reflect and develop not only what you know, but your capacity to remain grounded and present when another human being needs support. No prior experience is required. Upon successful completion, graduates become CLI Certified End-of-Life Doula & Grief Care Practitioners, with 40 hours of professional training in End-of-Life Doula & Grief Care.
